Recently, Carbonstop completed the signing of a contract with the Dubai World Expo Innovation Project. The signing of the contract represents that Carbonstop has been officially selected as the sole representative of China to Expo Live in Dubai 2020, and has successfully obtained funding support of US $100,000. The project aims to work together to improve people's lifestyles and protect the planet for a better future by funding, promoting and disseminating innovative global solutions. Carbonstop is committed to low-carbon efforts in order to make every product has a carbon footprint, so that consumers have the opportunity to choose more low-carbon products and enterprises can provide more low-carbon products and services to meet the growing demand for sustainable consumption of consumers. With the theme of "Sharing Ideas, Shaping the Future", Expo Dubai 2020 was originally scheduled to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021. Due to the impact of COVID-19 in 2020, the BIE has announced that Expo Dubai 2020 will be postponed for one year, scheduled to run from October 20, 2021 to March 31, 2022. In order to spread the idea of "Connecting Ideas, Shaping the Future" around the world, Expo Dubai 2020 has established the EXPO LIVE Innovation Impact Funding Program. The aim is to identify and fund global solutions in line with the Expo's three sub-themes of "Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability". The five rounds of EXPO LIVE Innovation Impact Funding Project have all been applied. Carbonstop is involved in the application round 5 of the project. In the past few years, EXPO LIVE has conducted four rounds of global project selection. The total number of projects applied for has exceeded 4000, and the successful selection rate is less than 1%. In the first four rounds, only one project from China -- Aobag was selected. Applications for Carbonstop began in November 2019. After preliminary application, formal application, live presentation (later converted into a remote online presentation), and final selection, Carbonstop was confirmed on March 26, 2020. After due diligence, notarization and certification of agency documents, on-site shooting of the project team and refinement and improvement of the project execution plan, the contract was finally signed. Carbonstop is grateful to our mentors, customers, partners and users who have supported us for more than 9 years. We will also strive to achieve the goal of "making every product have a carbon footprint".
Nowadays, Yan Luhui, CEO and founder of Carbonstop, was invited by the school of design, Jiangnan University to give an online lecture titled Food Carbon Footprint to teachers and students. In the guessing part of food carbon footprint, students spoke enthusiastically and got a high correct rate. They also looked forward to cross-border cooperation with food, design and other fields in the future. The carbon footprint of food can be said to be the most common carbon footprint in our life. Based on the carbon footprint of individual food, we can calculate the carbon footprint of each dish, and then get the low-carbon potential of people's various eating habits. In the future, it is also likely to be used in the construction and development of carbon accounts organized by various enterprises and institutions. If people in the field of food design in the future can consider and do something about the carbon footprint of food, then the realization of carbon reduction in the food sector will be within our reach. We hope that this lecture of Carbonstop can plant the seeds of low carbon in the minds of students. Carbonstop are willing to communicate and cooperate with all fields, and also willing to be the disseminator of low carbon concept all the time, so that every product can have its carbon footprint.
Recently, Carbonstop cooperated with ‘Clear Plate’ to jointly research and develop the accounting method of Clean Plate action carbon emission reduction. After scientific calculation, each clear plate operation can reduce the average of about 147 grams of carbon emissions. Up to now, there are 1 million users who have clocked in, and nearly 5 million clocked in times, resulting in a total of about 7,435 tons of carbon emission reduction. The accounting mainly takes into account the reasonable selection/consumption of the right amount of food, so as not to produce the reduction of emissions resulting from food waste. Emissions from residual food waste disposal are not only considered, but also from food growing/farming, production, processing and transportation, and consumption. On Aug 11, Xi Jinping, general secretary of CPC, issued an important directive on curbing food waste. He pointed out that food waste phenomenon, shocking, painful! ‘Who knows the food on the plate, every grain is hard.’ Although China has had bumper harvests in grain production in successive years, we still need to be aware of the crisis of food security. The impact of COVID-19 epidemic in the world this year is a wake-up call for us. Some data shows: - One-third of the world's food intended for human consumption is lost and wasted, an estimated 1.3 billion tons of food is lost and wasted globally each year (FAO). - China's catering industry wastes 93 grams of food per person per meal per person, with a waste rate of 11.7%. The waste of large parties reaches 38%. One-third of students' packed lunches are thrown away (Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences &WWF). - It is currently estimated that nearly 690 million people, or 8.9 per cent of the world population, are hungry, an increase of 10 million in one year and nearly 60 million in five years (FAO). - In 2019, nearly 750 million people worldwide, or nearly one-tenth of the world's population (FAO), face severe food insecurity. The food system is responsible for about 30 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and is a major driver of land use change (deforestation) and biodiversity loss, as well as a major user and polluter of scarce water resources. Clear Plate action, rewards for clocking in -- Clear Plate is an app dedicated to reducing food waste, which rewards points for taking pictures of the "Clear Plate" after a meal and identifying it through AI intelligence. Points can be exchanged for a large number of good quality goods, can also be donated to public welfare projects. By the time the article was written, it had more than 1.07 million users and was on its way to reaching 5 million ‘Clear Plate. The cooperation with Clear Plate is a new kind of low carbon scenario mining and calculation. Identifying each low-carbon scenario and quantifying the individual's contribution to greenhouse gas emission reduction is difficult to understand in terms of abstract concepts, but as the public's awareness of low carbon increases, tools and information such as carbon emission reduction will be a record and witness of individual environmental actions. Many small make a great,
Starbucks recently launched its Mid-Autumn Festival gift boxes. Unlike previous mooncakes, this year's mooncakes come in a "refreshed" packaging -- each box is wrapped in a piece of recycled silk fabric. The packaging material is made of recycled beverage bottles and Starbucks ice cups through a professional recycling process. After the accounting of Carbonstop, each piece of recycled silk packaging, according to its different specifications, the emission reduction is 0.0352KgCO2e (30cm*30cm), 0.1799KgCO2e (70cm*70cm) and 0.3364KgCO2e (100cm*100cm). In the calculation process, we mainly consider the carbon emission difference between recycled silk scarves and ordinary silk scarves due to different raw materials. The recycled silk scarves come from recycled PET plastic bottles and Starbucks ice cups, and the recycled fiber is obtained from petroleum and processed into polyester fiber. After collecting and accounting related process activity data and emission factors, the final emission reduction of recycled silk scarves is obtained, and the contribution of environmental protection packaging is quantified. If more companies can focus on sustainability and contribute to low carbon, we will be closer to the 1.5 degree target.
In June 2014, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Carbonstop issued the Green Meeting Action and Guide, which clarifies the concept of Green Meeting and details the management, implementation, communication, monitoring and reporting of Green Meeting. In addition, the guide provides advice on the planning of accommodation, catering, transportation and other aspects of the green meeting, with relevant cases attached. The guidelines can be used to guide enterprises to conduct green meetings. In June 2019, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a carbon neutral guide for large-scale events to guide performances, competitions, conferences, exhibitions and other activities to go carbon neutral. The guideline standardizes carbon neutral activities, clarifies the process of carbon neutral, and stipulates that carbon sequestration，CCER, CDM, PHCER and other emission reduction methods can be used for neutralization. The guidelines can be used to guide companies in making meetings and events carbon neutral. Carbonstop has been committed to building the "infrastructure" for the low-carbon industry, so that enterprises and individuals can further understand the green conference. In June 2014, Carbonstop launched the Green Meeting WeChat platform along with the Green Meeting Action and Guide. In 2020, Carbonstop revised the Green Meeting WeChat platform and added the Green Meeting mini-program, simplifying the style ogf WeChat platform and the mini-program, and reconstructing the functional structure of the product. You can use the latest version of the green meeting platform in WeChat official account and mini-program. If you want to sign up for a conference, you can enter the conference in the "home page", or search for the conference you want to attend in the "find" or "popularity". After entering the conference details page, you can bookmark and share the conference (click down to view all the conference details), or you can register for the conference. In addition, the platform has added navigation functions. After registration, wait for the management review. After the review is completed and passed, you can view the carbon emissions of the meeting and calculate your personal carbon emissions. The carbon emissions of the conference include the carbon emissions of the conference sponsor and all participants. The carbon emissions of participants are the sum of the calculated carbon emissions of all participants. If you want to delete the data related to your personal carbon emissions, you can delete it from the history and then enter the data you want in the calculation page. The data is mainly composed of four parts: transportation, accommodation, catering and supplies. After filling in the carbon emission information, you can click "I want to be carbon neutral" to neutralize the carbon emissions generated by the conference you participated. Before neutralization, you can read the service agreement and complete the payment after confirmation. (At present, only CCER neutralization is available for individual carbon neutralization, and more neutralization options will be added in the future. Neutralization projects are from carbon emission reduction projects purchased by carbonstop) Once you complete of the payment, you will receive the appropriate Carbon Neutral Certificate. In addition, the "Me -- My Meetings" section also shows all the meetings you attended (including those you did not attend). In the "Me- -- My Honor" section, you will be shown all the certifications you have earned. To attend the conference, simply click on the ticket details page of the meeting in the "Me -- My Ticket" section and present your attendance information. In addition, we have also updated the background management system of green meeting. You are welcome to leave a message and consult.
