From 9 April to 26 April 2020, Microsoft launched the WeChat mini-program "Low Carbon Emission Reduction, Walk with You". Users can redeem rewards by walking and ranking with their friends.
Carbonstop as a technical support party participated in this event, and provided carbon reduction accounting for the event. The calculation method of carbon emission reduction of walking in the activity mainly focused on the difference between the baseline scenario emissions and the project scenario emissions. The baseline scenario emissions are the average carbon emissions generated by common travel modes, including bus, subway, taxi, and self-driving according to the actual situation. The project scenario emissions are the basic carbon emissions from walking, which is zero.
After scientific calculation of Carbonstop, every step taken can reduce carbon emissions by about 0.0627g. If you choose walk rather than driving for your commuting, you can reduce carbon emissions by about 313.5g per 5000 steps.
