It also makes China one of the only four countries in the world with search engine core technology, apart from the United States, Russia, and South Korea.
Baidu's "Carbon Neutrality" Opportunities and Challenges
The year 2021 is known as the first year of "carbon neutrality". In this year, the Internet industry has become a pioneer in leading Chinese enterprises to achieve carbon neutrality. Compared with enterprises in energy, manufacturing and other industries, Internet technology enterprises are more likely to achieve carbon neutrality due to their lower carbon emissions. In addition, they are faced with dual pressures from investors and customers in domestic and overseas markets, which gives domestic Internet technology enterprises greater impetus to carry out zero carbon transformation. Baidu, as one of the Internet giants, keenly caught the opportunity of the "carbon neutral" track and began to devote itself to carbon neutral.
Solutions for carbonstop
Carbonstop provides low-carbon consulting services for Baidu and fully participates in and supports the writing of its low-carbon development special report. Among them, carbonstop accounting was conducted for carbon emissions in scenarios such as data centers, office buildings, and commuters, completing Baidu Group's carbon inventory for 2019 and 2020. Carbonstop assisted Baidu in formulating carbon neutrality goals and path planning according to the "CFOS rule", and proposed low-carbon planning suggestions for 2020 based on actual situations. In June 2021, Baidu released the "Carbon Neutrality Panorama", announcing the achievement of the group's operational level (Scope I and II) carbon neutrality goals by 2030.
In addition, carbonstop also optimizes the algorithm of Baidu Maps to calculate carbon emissions reduction for "Xiaodu Farm". The first phase of "Xiaodu Farm" was launched for the first time in 2018, receiving praise from various sectors and being selected for the "China Information Technology Public Welfare Development White Paper V3.0". The aim is to plant water-saving millet through the joint efforts of netizens and public welfare organizations, support the Alashan SEE groundwater protection project, and achieve the goal of alleviating land desertification crisis. Since the launch of the first phase of the event, over 6 million users have participated in the public welfare activities of Xiaodu Farm. The total number of green trips by users has exceeded 70 million, reducing carbon emissions by about 30807 tons.
