On 16 August, 2019, CBCA (China Business Climate Action), China China Association of Circular Economy Internet + Material Reuse Council and Peking University CEO Club jointly "Business carbon reduction X Garbage sorting" seminar, supported by Vanke Foundation, SEE Foundation AND C Team.   This event invited the secretary general of Vanke Foundation-- Yimei Chen, the secretary general of China China Association of Circular Economy Internet + Material Reuse Council, Jinfeng Zhou, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation did the opening greeting. On August 10, 2019, four group standards, including "Electrical and Electronic Products Carbon Footprint Assessment Part 2: Television", "Electrical and Electronic Products Carbon Footprint Assessment Part 3: Microcomputer", "Electrical and Electronic Products Carbon Footprint Assessment Part 4: Mobile Communication Handset", "Carbon Label Identification", were issued in Conference. The conference supported by various institute and corporations. What is "carbon label"? To mitigate impacts of climate change, reduce GHG emissions and promote low-carbon technologies, the GHG emissions emitted by the products in the life cycle are marked on the product label with a quantitative index to inform consumers of the carbon emission of the products. The label is called "carbon label." Why "carbon label" is essential？ In recent years, global climate became unstable, and increased GHG emission pose threat to human beings and environmental safety.It is important to reduce carbon emissions. In this context, the concept of “carbon footprint” appeared. Governments and related agencies have carried out research on carbon footprint assessment methods and launched “carbon labels” based on carbon footprint. China's "carbon label" assessment work In order to establish a sound product carbon label certification evaluation system, guide Chinese enterprises to low-carbon transformation and upgrade and promote green trade, the China Electronics Energy-saving Technology Association Low Carbon Economy Professional Committee and related industry-university research and development units started to develop the carbon footprint of electrical and electronic products in 2018.  "General guideline for electrical and electronic products carbon footprint assessment", "Carbon Footprint Evaluation of LED Road Lighting Products"and more than 10 group standards. On November 15, 2018, the “General guideline for electrical and electronic products carbon footprint assessment” and “Specifications for Carbon Footprint Evaluation of LED Road Lighting Products” were officially released. The release of group standards will help China to promote the transformation of green consumption and production methods and improve green competitiveness. At the same time, the carbon label system and the green supply chain can effectively reduce energy consumption indicators and establish a comprehensive and comprehensive standard system.

On August 10, 2019, the inaugural meeting of China Carbon Label Industry Innovation Alliance, also the 2nd International Conference on Carbon Labels for Electrical and Electronic Products and the 1st International Forum on Carbon Labels for Products in Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, was held in Shenzhen. The meeting also pointed out that consensus has been reached at the policy-making and executive levels on building an ecological environment community, establishing a mechanism of environmental cooperation and promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure. It means that the driving force of carbon label enabling Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area is particularly strong, and the mutual recognition mechanism,exchange and cooperation of carbon label in Greater Bay Area ushered in a period of historical opportunities. The establishment of China Carbon Label Industry Innovation Alliance will be dedicated to building an innovative platform for carbon label industry, which will cohere consensus and link resources, and provide more industries and fields for Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and even the whole country.
