Recently, the China Meteorological Administration organized a meeting of all Chinese authors on the sixth assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to discuss and exchange on the background of IPCC and the participation of Chinese scientists. Representatives from 11 IPCC liaison departments including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment attended the meeting.
Yu Rucong, deputy director of the China Meteorological Administration, said that the IPCC assessment report is the scientific basis for the international community to understand the issue of climate change and to promote the construction of a climate change governance system. effect. Chinese authors should be familiar with the IPCC working principles and procedures as soon as possible, actively participate in the main author meeting, and complete the report writing tasks with high quality. At the same time, the IPCC platform is fully utilized to continuously improve the level of scientific research, display the results of climate change research with Chinese characteristics, increase the rate of literature citations, and make positive contributions to guiding the establishment of a fair, reasonable, and win-win global climate governance system.
The sixth evaluation report of the IPCC was launched in 2015 and is scheduled to end in 2022. Three working group reports, comprehensive reports, three special reports and methodological reports will be prepared during the cycle. Researcher Zhai Panmao of the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences was elected the co-chair of Working Group I, and 60 Chinese experts were elected as the authors of the report. At present, the special report "Global Warming at 1.5 ° C" has been released in October 2018. The special reports "Oceans and Cryospheres in Climate Change" and "Climate Change and Land" and methodological reports will be completed this year. The three working group reports are scheduled to be completed in 2021 and the comprehensive report will be completed in 2022.
